About the Day Course

Learn a profound, purification practice which enables you to let go of mistakes, bad feelings, and the heavy burden of negativity from within your mind. We will focus on four special methods to remove negative karma known as the ‘four opponent powers’.

Do you spend most of your time and energy trying to avoid problems and experience happiness by changing other people, your situation and the world around you? No matter how much we try to avoid unhappiness and difficulties using this method, we never succeed.

Buddha explained that our unhappiness and difficulties don’t come from external things, but are the result of the negative actions, or ‘karma’, we performed in the past through our own harmful actions. Through purification practice we can dissolve away negative karma before it produces suffering and remove the real obstacle to a happy and meaningful life.

During this workshop or Resident Teacher, Gen Kelsang Luma, will explain how to purify past actions by relying upon Vajrasattva, the Buddha of purification. Through this we’ll purify our mind of negative karma, thereby removing the inner causes of problems and sufferings, and creating the causes of peace and happiness.

In this workshop you’ll learn:

  • What are the causes of suffering and problems and why we need to purify;
  • How to generate the four opponent powers for complete purification;
  • How to engage in the purifying meditation and mantra recitation practice of Vajrasattva;
  • How to purify past actions before they ripen as suffering.

The workshop will be followed by a weeks unguided retreat at the Centre in the practice of Vajrasattva. Each retreat session consists of prayers, some guided meditation, some silent meditation, and recitation of Vajrasattva’s mantra.
