Kind Heart Mountains Retreat 10th – 12th May 2024
We offer guided meditation retreats held at Forest Lodge in the Craigieburn Mountain Ranges, just 90 minutes drive from Christchurch. The retreats are suitable to those new to meditation as well as experienced practitioners. Everyone is welcome.
In this retreat our Resident Teacher and Buddhist Nun, Kelsang Luma will teach and guide simple yet profound meditations that have particular focus on developing loving-kindness. She will give practical ways in which we can use this timeless wisdom to transform our relationships and find real meaning in our busy modern lives.
Being on retreat is a special time to take ourselves away from our usual routines and busy lives. Through the teachings, contemplation and meditations we allow ourselves to develop a positive perspective. We then bring this new perspective back into our daily lives to benefit ourself and others.
Forest Lodge is located amongst beech forest and tussock. The area around the Lodge is particularly tranquil and conducive to meditation. There is plenty of time for walking or to simply enjoy the stillness of the mountains. The Retreat includes teachings, accommodation and delicious vegetarian meals. Accommodation is in light, spacious bunkrooms. There are 2 – 3 people in each bunkroom.
The Retreat begins with dinner on Friday at 6.30pm and finishes on Sunday at 3.45pm. Silence is observed in the morning until the end of the second morning session. Each session contains short preparatory prayers, a teaching and guided meditation.
